GST returns to be separate: Web portal to be single for FBR, PRAs
There would be a single web portal for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and provinces for filing of returns by taxpayers, but there is no proposal of unified sales tax return. Sources told Business Recorder Tuesday that the provinces have yet to give their comments on the proposed single web portal for the FBR and the provincial revenue authorities/boards. Through a single web address, the taxpayers would be able to access all FBR and provincial sale tax returns at one web portal. Taxpayers would be able to file all sales tax returns through the said single web portal.
“There would be a single portal but sales tax returns would be separate of each province and the FBR,” sources said. If the provinces agree to the proposal, taxpayers would be facilitated to file provincial as well as FBR sales tax returns through a single web portal. However, it does not mean that a single unified sale tax return would be introduced for FBR and provinces.
